We have found a workaround for the user name problem where it contain i:0#.f|membership | at the beginning of the user name. You must be an administrator to perform the following:

1. Select "Manage" SharePoint Online from the "Admin" page on portal.microsoftonline.com
2. Select Manage User Profiles
3. Select Manager User Properties
4. Edit the "Name" property
5. In the "Edit Settings" section of the "Name" property choose "Allow users to edit values...."
6. Click "OK"

Once the steps above are performed each user should be able to correct their name using the "Edit Profile" function of their respective "My Site".
